Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Mass Communication - Department of Journalism Summary: Today most online newspapers are resorting to videos to the extent that they specified complete sections to videos and even created affiliated websites for them. This research aims to study online video journalism as a complete product of convergence, understand its impact on viewership and readership of traditional media, and to examine credibility and professionalism associated to online video journalism. This research uses online survey method on a sample of 404 respondents whose age range from 18 to more than 55, and who belong to various socioeconomic status (SES), in order to examine the impact of demographic characteristics and online video journalism. The results showed that online video journalism has a moderate level of credibility, and that production quality is not directly associated with credibility yet with understanding the news event in the video. The researcher concluded that there using online news videos could decrease watching TV news on condition that online news video is comprehensive and sufficient to understand
