Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Physics Summary: The main aim of this thesis is to prepare orthoferrite of the formula SmFe(₁₋x)AlxO₃, where 0 {u2264} x {u2264} 0.15 (step 0.05) with quality samples using the double sintering ceramic technique at two groups. One of the main of this work is to introduce Al³⁺ ions to substitute some of Fe³⁺ occupied B-site of the perovskite structure and study the influence of this substitution on structural, magnetic, electrical and optical properties of the investigated orthoferrite to obtain the optimum concentration of Al3+ content. The novelty of this work is To tailor different orthoferrite materials with different rare earth elements and study the influence of ionic radii of rare earth cation at A-site substitution of RFe₀.95Al₀.₀5O₃ orthoferrite, where R = Sm, Y and Gd rare earth cations on the physical properties to meet different needs in many applications. We are also aiming to find out detailed characteristics that might help in suggesting new applications for such antiferromagnets
