Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of General Surgery Summary: Burns are one of the most dangerous health issues ranking 4th in the list of most common causes of trauma after, road traffic accidents, falls from heights and interpersonal violence with statistics showing an annual death toll of around 265 thousand cases, mostly in middle to low income countries.Due to the high mortality rates, a few indexes have been developed to predict mortality/survival so as to direct resourses towards the patients that would benefit the most and also to help evaluate the available medical service
