Axial length is defined as the distance from the anterior corneal surface to the retinal pigment epithelium. It can be performed using optical or ultrasound methods. Optical methods like IOL master have the benefits of non-contact procedures along with greater accuracy. IOL master (Carl Zeiss Jena, Germany) based on the principle of dual beam partial coherence interferometry.(2) It uses infrared light of short coherence for the measurement of the optical axial length, which is converted to geometric axial length by using a group of refractive index.(3) The influence of central corneal thickness on other ocular parameters began to be studied first in the light of its effect on intraocular pressure by conventional tonometry that was acknowledged by goldmann and Schmidt. The aim of this study is to determine if a correlation exists between the central corneal thickness detected by corneal topography and the axial length measured by partial coherence interferometry in a group of patients undergoing evaluation for cataract surgery
