Hibiscus sabdariffa L., Malvaceae, popularly known as Karkadeh, is a tropical to subtropical flowering plant widely distributed in Egypt. H. sabdariffa calyx is the main part being traditionally used in treatment of hypertension while unused parts (leaves and seeds) are considered as wastes. Few and incomplete studies were traced concerning these wastes (leaves and seeds). Thus, the current study aimed to focus on their utilization, as an attempt for converting wastes into useful products. A comparative phytochemical studies including preliminary screening, proximate analysis and total phenolics and flavonoids determination were established for leaves and seeds to evaluate quality and purity of these wastes. HPLC analysis of isolated mucilages from leaves and seeds was also carried out. Moreover, a detailed phytochemical study for each part was conducted. Pharmaceutical preparation (Nano-emulsion) was formulated for the seed oil aiming to enhance its actions. Meanwhile, the ethanolic extract of leaves, seed oil and its Nano-emulsion and the isolated mucilages were subjected to comparative biological study. In this respect, their biological activities were assessed in vitro and in vivo through measuring appropriate biochemical parameters and histopathological examination
