ملاحظة الأطروحة: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Geophysics ملخص: West Wadi El-Rayan Concession (WWER) is located in the Western Desert, 140Km South West of Cairo and 65Km South West of El-Fayoum. Also it lies in a transit area between Gindi basin (Eocene) on the eastern side and Abu Gharadig basin (Mesozoic) on the western side. In order to construct a 3D structural model for the WWER and to delineate the subsurface structure styles, seismic structural interpretation and structural restoration are used to validate. The structure geometry within WWER area is inverted half-graben, since the area was controlled by reactivation of older faults in response to Jurassic/Early Cretaceous and Late Cretaceous/Early Tertiary events that formed the Kattaniya inverted high and shaped the central part of WWER concession. The magnitude of inversion-related shortening in the study area was estimated and was suggested to be strong. The result of strong inversion magnitude occurred northeast ward of the study area can be concluded that, the area suffered shortening and part of the Jurassic / Early Cretaceous normal faults are reactivated as reverse faults, Also the cap, the main reservoirs and the source rock sections brought to the surface and thus breached, as well any previous mature source rock becoming non-generative where the two dry wells Qatarani-1 and WD-38 are located. However, any less severe inversion structure in this case where WWER 2X, WWER-3 and WWER-4 wells are located ( those wells are produces from upper Bahariya level) that remain buried by the post Eocene section will have a better chance or preserving the structure geometry and therefore top and lateral seal
