Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Power Engineering Summary: the aim is to conclude a highly efficient equation that can be used to predict the value of the pressure drop in natural gas pipelines. Different models to calculate the friction factor have been proposed, achieving different levels of certainty. In this study, we revisit the distinct strategies used to estimate the friction factor and propose a new suggested equation to calculate the friction factor to predict the value of pressure drop in natural gas pipelines. The approximation used in this study is based on practice measured data for Mediterranean natural gas pipelines of Zohr field in case of steady flow of natural gas through pipelines and compared them to the most modern gas flow equations such as Shaikh et al. at., the use of Lambert W function and artificial intelligence methods
