The work was carried out to evaluate 16 - week composting of rice straw as affected by application of buffalo's dung , effective microorganisms (EM) and / or Bcirculans to permanent additions of ammonium sulphate and rock phosphateIn addition , the effects of soaking rice straw and / or disturbing or non - disturbing the composted mixture were also evaluatedThe end - product was examined for maturity by barley seed test and by application in a sandy soil transplanted with tomato seedlings for 8 - weeksThe thermophilic bacteria was favoured with high temperature , then decreased throughout the mesophilic phaseOn the contrary , mesophilic physiological groups including total viable , actinomycetes , fungi (molds) , yeasts , aerobic cellulose decomposers , phosphate dissolving bacteria , lactobacilli , all of which negatively responded to thermophilic phase (45 - 60 oC) , and favoured by the mesophilic (36 - 43 oC) , however , their counts collectively decreased during the cooling down phase (26 - 30oC)
