N2  - This thesis presents forty-five papers. These papers were selected from my total list of publications. I provide a brief review on the status of two famous geometries as well as their problems when used to construct the general theory of relativity (GR) using the geometrization philosophy. Then, in Part 1, we give the developments we have achieved to remove the problems mentioned. Part 2 presents a set of field theories that we constructed in order to apply the developments given in part 1. All applications in parts 3, 4 and 5 are physical.
