<br/><br/> This study aimed at analyzing racism in political discourse; in broader terms, at pointing out the strategies that were used to delineate others in presidential speeches. To achieve that aim, this study investigated the strategies of inclusion-exclusion used by former American president Donald Trump to (re)produce remarks specifically based on racial or religious discrimination. Drawing mainly on Van Dijk’s (1998) socio-political approach in Critical Discourse Analysis, this study examined how certain pragmatic and rhetorical devices were employed by Donald Trump in the (re)production of racism in three selected speeches before and after Trump won the presidential election in 2016. The pragmatic devices were speech acts, terms of address, and personal pronouns; the rhetoricaldevices wereparallelism,euphemism,hyperbole,andrhetorical questions. Considering the contextual elements in each speech, the study found that Trump employed some of the analysed pragmatic and rhetorical devices in his discourse as means of clusivity (Wiczorek, 2010). This is to say that he managed to include or exclude others as allies or enemies to him, to America, and to the world. This strategy of “clusivity” would change depending on the context in which each speech was delivered. It was also found that racism was not the most salient feature of the speeches, but it was part of a bigger image that showed the positive self against the negative other in the speeches.  هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل العنصرية في الخطاب السياسي، مع التركيز على الاستراتيجيات الخطابية المستخدمة لوصف "الآخرين" في الخطب الرئاسية. بشكل أكثر تحديدًا، حققت الدراسة في استراتيجيات الشمول والاستبعاد التي استخدمها الرئيس الأمريكي السابق دونالد ترامب لإعادة إنتاج تصريحات تعتمد على التمييز العرقي أو الديني. استندت الدراسة إلى مقاربة فان دايك (1998) الاجتماعية-السياسية في تحليل الخطاب النقدي، حيث فُحِصَت الوسائلالبرجماتية والبلاغية التي تم توظيفها في ثلاث خطب ألقاها ترامب قبل وبعد فوزه في الانتخابات الرئاسية لعام 2016.شملت الوسائلالبرجماتيةالتي تم تحليلها أفعال الكلام، عبارات المخاطبة، والضمائر الشخصية، بينما تضمنت الوسائل البلاغية التوازي، التلطيف، المبالغة، والأسئلة البلاغية. ووجدت الدراسة أن ترامب استخدم هذه الوسائل لخلق استراتيجية "الشمولية والاستبعاد"، حيث تم تحديد الأفراد والجماعات إما كحلفاء أو كأعداء له، وللولايات المتحدة، أو للعالم. وكانت هذه الاستراتيجية تعتمد على السياق، حيث تغيرت مواقف "نحن" ضد "هم" وفقًا لمتطلبات كل خطاب.علاوة على ذلك، على الرغم من أن العنصرية كانت موجودة في الخطابات، إلا أنها لم تكن السمة الأكثر بروزًا. بل شكلت جزءًا من صورة أوسع يعزز فيها ترامب الذات الإيجابية مقابل "الآخر" السلبي.
