<br/><br/> The present study proposes to analyze the structuring of irony and its functions as the most prominent characteristic in the novel Angels of Hell (2004) by Enrique Serna. The writer expresses the disappointment of the contemporary man, through the parodic and ironic perspective of the novel. In Angels of Hell, the author criticizes the colonial society of the seventeenth century although his criticism is in fact directed towards that society’s descendants and heirs: the Mexican society of today.  تتناول هذه الرسالة السخرية، بنيتها ووظائفها كسمة بارزة فى رواية "ملائكة الجحيم" للمؤلف إنريكيه سيرنا. يعبر الكاتب عن خيبة أمل ويأس الانسان المعاصر  في روايته من خلال منظور ساخر وتهكمي. ينتقد سيرنا في كتابه "ملائكة الجحيم"  المجتمع المكسيكي المستعمر فى القرن السابع عشر وإن كان فى واقع الأمر ينتقد ورثة هذا المجتمع: المجتمع المكسيكى الحالى
