N2  - Extra-articular distal radius fractures are common injuries among the elderly, typically resulting from low-energy trauma such as falling from standing height due to osteoporosis. Multiple treatment modalities are available for managing these fractures; our comparative study between cast and volar locked plate has demonstrated no significant differences in functional outcomes at six months post-injury due to reduced functional demands of the elderly population in their activities of daily living.; تُعدّ كسور عظم الكعبرة البعيدة خارج المفصل من الإصابات الشائعة بين كبار السن، وعادةً ما تنتج عن صدمات خفيفة مثل السقوط من وضعية الوقوف بسبب هشاشة العظام. تتوفر طرق علاجية متعددة لإدارة هذه الكسور؛ وقد أظهرت دراستنا المقارنة بين استخدام الجبيرة والتثبيت بالصفيحة الأمامية عدم وجود فروق جوهرية في النتائج الوظيفية بعد ستة أشهر من الإصابة، وذلك بسبب انخفاض متطلبات النشاط البدني لكبار السن في أنشطتهم اليومية
