In recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on addressing poverty, particularly in developing countries, following the United Nations' declaration of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. This thesis applies the Alkire and Foster methodology to construct a multidimensional index for assessing poverty among young people in Egypt. The study also employs parsimony analysis to evaluate the complexity of the index and uses sensitivity analysis to assess its robustness. The analysis is based on data from 2014 Survey of Young People in Egypt SYPE, focusing on poverty from a deprivation perspective. The thesis is structured into six chapters. The first chapter presents the introduction, research objectives, and the structure of the study. Chapter two reviews the relevant literature and outlines the conceptual framework. Chapter three details the data source, data preparation, and methodology, including the proposed Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI_YOUTH). Chapter four presents the results of the MPI_YOUTH for Egyptian youth in 2014. Chapter five examines the parsimony and robustness of the index.
