As part of Egypt Vision 2030, the Egyptian government aims to protect coastal ecosystems, with a focus on Goal 14 on conserving marine resources. Lake Edku, one of Egypt's largest northern lakes, is vulnerable to environmental degradation due to human activities such as agricultural, industrial, and sanitary drainage, necessitating a careful assessment of its environmental status. The research concludes that although Lake Edku remains within relatively safe limits, the increasing pollution of its sediments requires urgent intervention to ensure its sustainability.
