<br/><br/> Vinpocetine, a poorly water soluble vincamine derivative, is widely used for the treatment of disorders arising from cerebrovascular and cerebral degenerative diseases. It was shown to increase the cerebral flow in the ischemia affected area of patients with cerebrovascular disease, to decrease platelet aggregability in patients with transient ischemic attack or stroke, to increase red cell deformability in stroke patients, and to have neuroprotective abilities together with protective effect against brain ischemia
