<br/><br/> Hepatocellular Carcinoma is one of the severe malignancies with high incidence worldwide as reported to be ranked the sixth most common cancers[2] . Several studies have investigated the underlying pathogenesis of the disease and hypothesized that the interaction between the etiological factors (e.g. HCV, HBV, AFB and cirrhosis [7] and the hepatocytic genes result in functional (imbalance between pro - apoptotic and anti - apoptotic signaling) and structural genomic alterations(loss and gain of chromosomal regions resulting in deletion of tumor suppressor genes e.g, p53 and Rb genes) constituting the basis for HCC pathogenesis [8,44,189]
