<br/><br/> This research attempts a stylistic analysis of Pinter's A Night Out (1961) Silence (1969) and Mountain Language (1988) using duly relevant social and linguistic notions . To carry out the analysis Pinter's concept of silence (1962 ) has been employed as an umbrella classification for varieties of silence in the three chosen plays . The analysis has shown how through many forms of silence power relationships in three different social institutions are built up
