17 spices and herbs commonly used in Egypt as food condiments extracted with 95% ethanol (garlic tested as juice) were examined for their antimicrobial activity against 7 standard microbial strains of, S.aureus ATCC 6538, B.subtilis ATCC CC33, E.coli ATCC 87, P.aeruginosae ATCC 9027, S.typhi ATCC 35664, C.albicans ATCC 60193 and A.niger ATCC 1718109
