  <abstract>Maize and faba bean are very important corps in Egypt and the damping off and root-rot are the most diseases that attacking these plants causing serious losses of yield and quality of these crops. The results obtained in vitro revealed that among eighty isolates of nitrogen fixing bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere and roots of maize and faba bean plants, the strain No.12 of Azospirllum lipoferum was active against the ten tested pathogenic fungi that recorded largest inhibition zone</abstract>
