The significance ADRs among hospitalized patients especially critically ill patients admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) has now become a global concern. Although many clinical trials have been conducted on drug therapy in obstructive airways diseases, there are no sufficient data on the safety of the drug therapy used for acute exacerbations. The present work is a prospective observational study that was carried out in the chest diseases department, KasrAlaini, Cairo University Hospitals, between January 2012 and January 2013, in which one hundred patients; admitted to the ward or the ICU with acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis or acute severe asthma, were enrolled
