Oral epithelial dysplasia represents a relatively late phase in the multistage process of oral carcinogenesis, which is one of the most frequent cancers in the world. Accordingly, our goal was to assess the DNA ploidy status and the immunohistochemical expression of BUBR1 in oral epithelial dysplasia and oral squamous cell carcinoma, correlation of our results with the histopathological findings and evaluation of their diagnostic and prognostic significance. Forty paraffin blocks were investigated and divided into: low and high risk dysplasia, well, moderately and poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Flow cytometry was used to evaluate the ploidy status, DNA index and S-phase fraction. Immunohistochemical expression of BUBR1 and the area percentage of the positive cells were detected
