Construction of bivariate lifetime distributions of MarshallOlkin type and estimation of their parameters using maximum likelihood method is the main topic in this thesis. Parameters estimation are obtained first for complete samples then for Type I censored samples with and without expectation maximization algorithm. Bivariate distributions of MarshallOlkin type: bivariate distribution with Gompertz marginals, with generalized Gompertz marginals and with logexponentiated kumaraswamy marginals are constructed. For all these distributions joint survival functions or joint cumulative functions and joint probability density functions are obtained. In addition the marginal and joint moment generating functions are derived
