200 female patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were selected from Kasr Al-Eini endocrine and diabetes outpatient clinic without known thyroid illness and 100 female healthy subjects were selected from Kasr Al-Eini internal medicine outpatient clinic. All females were subjected to the followings: 1- History taking. 2- Clinical examination. 3- Fasting and 2- hours post prandial blood glucose. 4- Thyroid function tests: (i) Free T3. (ii) Free T 4. (iii) TSH . 5- Thyroid Ultrasonography. Results: Incidence of thyroid nodules was higher in diabetic patients (43%) than in normal subjects ( 30%). Conclusion: - Patients with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus need regular check up with thyroid ultrasound and thyroid function tests
