Although overlapping in time, each stage is uniquely regulated. Preinduction cervical assessment is based on the digital examination of the cervix and evaluation of several variants, originally proposed by Bishop and measurement of cervical length by TVU which is non invasive and cheap method. The advantage of the Bishop score is that it can evaluate parameters such as consistency or station that may influence the outcome. A low Bishop score prior to labour induction has been associated with failure of induction, prolonged labour and a high rate of cesarean delivery. Also the Bishop score does not require any special equipment; however its evaluation remains a matter of controversy depending on the differences in the clinical senses of examinations. In conclusion cervical score (Bishop score) and the cervical length by T.V.S had almost the same sensitivity (62% vs 62.7%) and the cervical length by T.V.S is more specific than cervical score (Bishop score) UR - http://172.23.153.220/th.pdf ER -
