Clinical engineering departments in hospitals need to take decisions for health technology assessment, including acquisition, maintenance, use, and replacement. In developing countries there is a lack of scientific and realistic understanding in the healthcare technology assessment for replacement decision. So, replacements that do not depend on any methodology or systematic procedure still constitute a source of inefficiency in hospital management. In our thesis we developed an automated system to prioritize medical equipment replacement in health care facilities. Our proposed medical equipment replacement system (MERs) is based on Analytical Hierarchy Processes - Group Decision Making(AHP-GDM)as a tool to prioritize the replacement of medical equipment. The AHP-GDM method can be used to plan the replacement of different types of devices that exist in one or different departments in the hospital using appropriate hierarchies; and the AHP allows for an evaluation process that is reasonably fast, but more importantly, it is more reliable for taking the replacement decision
