Public spaces in Cairo are merely transitory spaces and are not activated as social public spaces. Regeneration of these public spaces is needed, with recognition of the space users. Participatory regeneration of public spaces with all the stakeholders is a mean to fill the gap between the user of space and its producer. Integration between the top down and bottom up approaches is crucial for sustaining the public space. Guidelines for participatory regeneration of public spaces will ease the project process for the decision makers and gain public consent
