Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic disease characterized by the production of pathogenic antibodies that attack self-antigens and result in a variety of clinical manifestations. Even though, the exact contribution of NK cells in the pathogenessis of SLE is still inconclusive, it is undeniable that the activity of these lymphocytes is decreased in SLE patients as shown by many studies.
