Backround : throughout thw world deaths due to stabbing have increased dramatically. It was observed as a major cause of trauma worldwide. This made stab related deaths investigation of medico-legal importance that would help in reaching criminal justice.Subjects & methods: One hundred and sixteen (116) cases of both sexes and different age groups, with stab injury being the main cause of death presented to Zeinhom morgue during the year 2016 were included in cross-sectional study in relation to demographic data and the results of forensicexamination. Results: statistical significant difference found in the comparison between: type of weapon and shape of injury, weapon type and the blade character, anatomical region affected and direction of injury, blade width and external wound length, and number of stabs regarding the cause of assault or sex of the victim. Conclusion and Recommendations :There is a need to ensure prober limitation of ownership of sharp weapons, in addition accurate documentation of stab wounds. The attendance of a forensic pathologist at the crime scene to ensure proper management of stab cases and samples at the scene
