  <abstract>Safe and painless labor is a dream for the future rather than a reality today There are numerous methods for control of pain durig labor as pharmacological , non pharmacological and regional methods Psychological methods of pain relief are the oldest attempts to reduce labor pain Which includes for example , acupuncture and audioanalgesia Pharmacological methods of pain relief include systemic drugs administration and inhalation analgesia The systemic drugs adminstrated during labor are used to relief pain during 1st and 2nd stages of labor Regional blocks provide pain relief while allowing the parturient to be awake and able to participate in labor The most common forms include local perineal infiltration , caudal , spinal and epidural block</abstract>
