<subfield code="a">This thesis seeks to analyse the European Union{u2019}s role in resolving the Kurdish question. It sheds light on the different tools used by the EU in solving the question. In particular, the thesis seeks to answer the following question: How did the European Union played a role in solving the Kurdish issue in Turkey? The purpose of this thesis is to test the efficiency of the tools used by the European Union within its external policies frame. Also, the thesis tries to reach an explanation to the motives and interests lying behind the Union{u2019}s intervention in such conflict. The thesis starts with a narrative to the evolution of the European Union policies towards the Middle East, then the discussion develops to examination of the EU{u2019}s external policies towards conflict resolution and peacebuilding in third countries. Afterwards, the thesis probes on the role practiced by the European Union towards protection of ethnic minorities, and more precisely, the EU{u2019}s role concerning the Kurds within Turkey. The topic was chosen as the relevance of evolution of intra-state conflicts, and which affects third countries and could be affected at the same time by external factors. The goal is not only to study conflicts, but also to point out the consequences and rely on such information to generate scenarios about future developments and better conflict-addressing </subfield>
