Tinea most often occurs on the scalp , the body , the feet and the nails . It is caused by groups of fungus organisms that are referred to as " dermatophytes " . In many cases , a topical antifungal cream or lotion is necessary to treat tinea . Creams are applied to the infected areas three times a day for month even if the tinea apperas to clear up
