Background: Cystic fibrosis is a multisystemic genetic disorder affecting 1:2500 newborns. Its prognosis has changed in the last two decades with increasing life expectancy. CF is an exhausting and time consuming disease that can interfere or impair typical daily life activities and social interactions, the disease also causes depression and anxiety due to hospitalization, long term medications and restricted social life. Objective: to assess anxiety, depression, hopelessness, behavioral problems, social desirability and intelligence in children with CF and to correlate them sociodemographic data. Methods: this cross- sectional studywas conducted on forty children diagnosed as CF and was administered anxiety scale for children, children depression inventory, child behavior checklist, young children social desirability scale, hopelessness scale for children and intelligence quotient photographed test. Obtained results are compared with a control group of 40 healthy children of the same age and sex. Results:males constituted 62.5% of studied patients while 37.5% were females. High degree of hopelessness was presented in 32.5% of patients, moderate to severe degree of depression was presented in 25% of patients and 40% were suffering from anxiety.CF patients had elevated somatic, anxious, aggressive behaviors and low social desirability.There was statically significant direct correlation between age and duration of disease with anxiety, depression, hopelessness, somatic behavior, anxious behavior,aggressive behavior and social desirability
