Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral Surgery
This study included sixteen patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of oral and maxillofacial surgery department, Faculty of oral and dental medicine, Cairo university. Sixteen adult healthy patients suffering from impacted mandibular third molar teeth were chosen for this research. Subjects were between 19 and 45 years of age. 6 male patients and 10 female patients participated in this study. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficancy of using bondbone in combine with bone graft for the enhancement of healing process and bone density after the surgical extraction of deeply impacted lower third molar. A through preoperative assessment of all patients was carried out. Sixteen patients were divided equally into two groups (a study group and a control group) of 8 patients each. Surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars were done to all cases; the tooth sockets in the study group were immediately preserved by bondBone and Xenogenic bone graft; while the control group were left without grafting; just the blood clot was left in the socket to heal spontaneously. Comparison of bone density for the study and control group was done using cone beam radiograph immediately and after 4 months. Each patient was returned for the post-operative assessment after 3, 30, 60 days and after 4 months in which clinical assessment for the socket is carried out
