Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mechanical Design and Production Summary: A new variable geometric volume pump; namely cardiac action pump, is pre- sented in this thesis. The pump geometric volume is manipulated by controlling a control oil volume which replaces the heavy inertial control mechanism in the variable pumps. It has been veri{uFB01}ed theoriticaly that the cardiac action pump is of high speed of response in comparison with a high response swash plate pump of the same geometric volume. The stresses developed in the various pump parts have been analyzed and checked that it is below the yield stress of the materials used. A 3 - D printed model had been made to demonstrate the pump design aspects during the pump design. A full assembly and working drawings had been made in order to manufacture the pump prototype
