Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc)-Cairo University, 2025 Summary: A study of structural and electroanalytical chemical properties for both flubendazole and the newly synthesized Al(III)-flubendazole complex (Al-FLU) are explored as potent effectively electroactive sensing ionpohores to construct novel well-defined working chemically modified carbon paste electrodes (CPEs), in both cases the suggested modifier is plasticized with TCP and highly pure graphite powder. Under the optimized conditional parameters, the CPEs (I) and (II) show a high response in the wide linear concentration range of Al(III) from 1.0×10−7 to 1.0×10−1 mole L−1 with limits of detection of 1.0×10−7 mole L−1 for both. They exhibit intended trivalent Nernstian slopes of 20.11± 0.47 mV decade−1 and 20.0± 0.683 mV decade−1 of Al(III) ion activity[Al3+] at 25±1◦C, respectively. Both electrodes showed a fast static response time for about 4.0 and 5.0 s with a reasonable thermal stability beyond the temperature range of 10 to 60°С. The potentiometric response of the electrodes was independent on the pH of the tested solutions in ranges of 3.5–5.0 and 3.4–5.5 for CPEs (I) and (II), respectively. Furthermore, in order to study the response mechanism of the proposed CPEs, the surfaces of the proposed CPEs were characterized using the morphological tools using energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) equipped with scanning electron microscope (SEM) ,and Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) technique is also applied to confrm the interaction between Al(III) and FLU. Morethan, fortunately this is the first time that Al(III)-flubendazole complex is synthesized and characterized by mass, elemental analysis and computational calculations (DFT and MPA). The developed CPEs are successfully applied quantitative determination of Al(III) ions in drinking water samples, medication(multivitamin syrup), food stuff and soil sample. As well as, CPE(II) is successfully applied for Al(III) ion quantification in both its pure form and for surface soil sample. In order to establish the electrode validation, In accordance with IUPAC recommendation, the validation of the proposed CPEs (I)&(II) are established through integration for both the yield results of the proposed potentiometric CPEs and ICP, that are found to meet the acceptable tolerances.
