Therefore, we aimed to compare pulmonary functions among normal, overweight and obese schoolchildren. Methods: Ninety schoolchildren from primary schools of Shebin Elkom, Monoufia governorate with age range of 7-9 years participated in the study. They were classified into three equal groups; normal, overweight andobeseaccording to their body mass index (BMI) for-age percentile. Forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory flow rate in one second (FEV1), FEV1/FVC ratio and peak expiratory flow rate were measured by spirometer. Results: There were non-significant differences in all of the measured variables (p>0.05) among normal, overweight and obese children. Results also revealed no correlation between the pulmonary functions and BMI or BMI for-age percentile. Conclusion: Overweight and obesity has no effect on pulmonary functions in children aged from 7 to 9 years
