Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Biochemistry Summary: The limitation of the available diagnostic approaches for Hepatitis C virus ( HCV ) enhances the efforts to have a rapid , sensitive and specific diagnostic testing for HCV infection . The western blot and ELISA were used to identify the HCV - NS4 antigen . Qualitative and quantitative polymerase chain reaction ( PCR ) and capillary zone electrophoresis ( CZE ) were used to identify the HCV - RNA in sera of infected HCV patients
