Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Chemical Engineering Summary: The propane pre - cooling mixed refrigerant cycle is a very important technique and the most worldwide used for liquefaction of natural gas. Propane pre - cooling cycle is a main part of the liquefaction technique and nearly presents about 20% of the heat load of liquefaction process. The objective of this study is to investigate and analysis the performance of the propane cooling cycle used for pre-cooling of both treated natural gas (NG) and mixed refrigerant cycle (MRC) in an LNG plant using PPMRC technique licensed by APCI. The simulation was conducted by Aspen HYSYS version 7.3 to optimum propane cycle configuration and operating parameters providing minimum energy consumption of propane compressors and two air - coolers used for cooling and sub - cooling of both gas and liquid propane (propane condenser and propane sub - cooler. The investigated parameters where the simulation was carried out are: The sub - cooling temperature of liquid propane in the second air - cooler. Number of compression stages in the propane cycle Three, Four, and Five stages. Quality of NG feed (lean and rich gas
