Ignoring well-being aspects in the design and operation of the built environment of
hospitals and healthcare facilities highly affects its users, and diminishes its medical
function and overall purpose. This research aims to derive guidelines based on
wellbeing indicators from existing standards, and projects to restructure existing
healthcare facilities, and design new ones in Egypt to achieve human health and
wellbeing. The research started with a theoretical study of wellbeing definition across
different fields of study and identifying its measures, and review the hospital
environment and the need for application of wellbeing aspects; affecting its users and
economical state. The research then analyzed wellbeing initiatives and deduced
wellbeing indicators. The researcher carried a questionnaire to identify the top
wellbeing indicators and analyzed international case studies to define a methodology
of application of wellbeing indicators in hospitals through architectural interpretation
and highlight benchmark for application. Finally, the research evaluated the situation
in Egypt through a local case study and deducing guidelines for applying wellbeing
aspects in the built environment of hospitals and healthcare. This research ended with
a set of recommendations for future study and practice derived from the whole study

رفاهية اإلنسان عامل مؤثر و هام في تصميم الفراغات. مرافق الرعاية الصحية هي نوع مميزمن لمتطلبات المبني و ط المباني الن تصميمها يحتاج الي محددات خاصة نظرا بيعة الضغوطات التي يتعرض لها ً المترددين علي المبني بسبب طبيعة عملهم أو حالتهم الصحية. هذا البحث يهدف إلي إلقاء الضوء علي أهمية تصميم مرافق الرعاية الصحية و تأثيره علي صحة و سعادة اإلنسان، و ذلك بمراعاة مجموعة من المحددات ياسية، بيئية، ثقافية و أخيراً التي لها أبعاد إجتماعية، إقتصادية، س إنسانية. يبدأ البحث بدراسة نظرية عن مفهوم سعادة و رفاهية اإلنسان و طرق قياسه من خالل االطالع علي األبحاث السابقة. ثم، إلقاء الضوء علي مجموعة من أحدث و أهم الدراسات علي هيئة نظم تقييم و إطار أعمال تتبني فكر رفاهية و سعادة اإلنسان بطرق مختلفة. ثم ينتقل البحث لدراسة تحليلية لتحليل 25 محدد مستمد من الدراسات السابقة و معرفة كفاءتهم و إمكانية تطبيقهم من خالل إستبيان لألطباء و المعماريين المتخصصين في تصميم مباني الرعاية. .ينتقل البحث للقيام بتحليل مقارن لمجموعة من المستشفيات العالمية لعرض طرق تطبيق تلك المحددات في تصميم مباني الرعاية الصحية كترجمة معمارية للمحددات. ينتهي هذا البحث بعرض مجموعة من من التوصيات مستخلصة من الدراسة ككل لشروط تصميم مباني الرعاية الصحية بما يتناسب مع صحة و رفاهية و سعادة اإلنسان في مصر
