Three versions of a limited area model (MM5V3) that only differs in radiation parameterization are used to obtain six days forecast for six case studies during July 1997 The area of study covers parts in Africa , Asia and the Pacific over area that extends from 35?S to 50?N The aim of the work is to study differences between the three model versions over the tropical and subtropical regions As a background a review of the main synoptic large - scale flow over the tropical and subtropical regions is presented
