High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive technology that is used for treatment of tumors among other medical applications. Treatment monitoring during HIFU therapy is essential for successful treatment. Complete registration between the imaging and therapy axes is crucial to ensure accurate lesion localization and treatment monitoring. Dual-mode ultrasound arrays (DMUAs) are advanced transducers that can image and treat with HIFU using the same elements
