Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Biophysics Summary: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered one of the main dangerous causes of burn wound infection also it is known for its highly resistance to antibiotics. In this work the effect of magnetic impulses on the growth activity of P. aeruginosa, antibiotic susceptibility, DNA and structural cell changes are studied. Results indicated that exposure to PMF can inhibit the growth of the bacteria at particular resonance frequencies 0.5 Hz and 0.7 Hz with pronounced lethal effect. The electrophoretic amplified DNA pattern of exposed P. aeruginosa samples indicated genetic changes attributed to exposure to PMF. The results also depicted increase in antibiotic susceptibility of exposed cells to protein and cell wall inhibitors and it was aptly to the transmission electron microscope (TEM) images which showed a significant cell wall deteriorations and low density intracellular biomaterial
