Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Operative Dentistry Summary: Aim of the study: This in vivo study was carried out to evaluate the efficacy of immediate dentin sealing using single bond universal adhesive in comparison to delayed dentin sealing in the reduction of the post-operative hypersensitivity in teeth prepared for indirect tooth composite restorations using Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Materials and methods: Fifty-four patients between 18 and 30 years of age were included in this study following the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study. They were recruited from the outpatient clinic of the Conservative department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University and informed of the nature of the study, consented to participate and signed a consent form. Randomization was done for patients. Each treatment protocol was concealed to the assessor and to the patient (allocation concealment). The whole procedure of allocation concealment was done by the data manager. Blinding of the operator was not possible, because main operator was responsible for applying the intervention and control. However, the hypersensitivity test was done by the assistant colleague who was blinded from the followed sealing protocol. In addition, the treatment results were assessed blindly by a statistician. After baseline preoperative data collection, diagnosis of caries was done depending on the basis of clinical examination that was done tentatively and radiographic examination was done as well
