Television reporters occupy a pivotal role in shaping media content and, consequently, public discourse and societal impact. However, the intricate web of influences affecting reporters' decisions remains largely unexplored, particularly in the context of Egypt. This dissertation fills this knowledge gap by probing the multifaceted forces guiding Egyptian reporters in making decisions about news coverage, resource allocation, and media content. This research unfolds several objectives. Firstly, it explores how Egyptian television reporters perceive their professional roles and identities. Secondly, it delves into their views on professional autonomy within the evolving media landscape. Thirdly, it dissects the myriad internal and external influences that mold their choices concerning news content, shedding light on the challenges they encounter. Furthermore, it assesses the impact of organizational and external pressures, such as gatekeeping, on news content and editing decisions from the reporters' perspective. Lastly, it investigates the influence of social media on reporters and proposes solutions to emerging challenges, culminating in the creation of a visual mind map illustrating these interconnections. Employing a mixed-method approach, this research combines qualitative semi-structured interviews and quantitative online surveys to comprehensively investigate reporters' perceptions and the influences on media content decisions in Egypt. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dissects data to provide a nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics shaping content decisions in the news industry. Key findings from interviews and surveys underscore that Egyptian television reporters view their roles as central in determining news newsworthiness, emphasizing professionalism and integrity. Autonomy levels vary, influenced by organizational factors, while individual characteristics and situational challenges impact decision-making. External pressures, such as economic and political influences, affect content choices. Despite emerging challenges, reporters remain dedicated to journalistic principles, including the use of social media. This research enriches our understanding of the intricate factors guiding Egyptian television reporters, their influence on media content, and societal discourse. It offers valuable insights for media organizations to enhance communication strategies and resource allocation, promoting transparency and excellence in Egyptian journalism. It unravels the dynamics of journalism in Egypt and underscores reporters' pivotal role in shaping media content, advancing our comprehension of news reporting's intricacies, and informing strategies for improving media practices and their positive societal impact.

يؤدى المراسل التلفزيونيونى دورًا محورياً في تشكيل محتوى وسائل الإعلام وبالتالي يؤثر هذا المحتوى في الخطاب العام ومن ثم على المجتمع. ومع ذلك، تبقى العوامل المتعددة التي تؤثر في قرارات المراسلين غير مستكشفة، خاصة داخل المجتمع المصري. و من ثم تسعى الدراسة إلى سد الفجوة المعرفية من خلال استكشاف القوى المتعددة التي تعمل على توجيه المراسلين المصريين في اتخاذ القرارات بشأن التغطية الخبرية وتخصيص الموارد والمحتوى الإعلامي. وقد ركزت الدراسة على مجموعة من الأهداف؛ أولاً الكشف عن تصورات المراسلين المصرين لطبيعة أدوارهم المهنية وهوياتهم، وثانياً التعمق في وجهات النظر الخاصة بهم حول الاستقلال المهني في ظل تطورات المشهد الإعلامي، وثالثاً، تحليل التأثيرات الداخلية والخارجية المتعددة التي تشكل اختياراتهم فيما يتعلق بمحتوى الأخبار، وبالإضافة إلى ذلك البحث فى تأثير الضغوط التنظيمية والخارجية، مثل "حراسة البوابة"، على محتوى الأخبار وقرارات التحرير من منظور المراسلين. وأخيرًا، تبحث الدراسة في تأثير وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي على المراسلين وتقترح حلولًا للتحديات الناشئة، وصولاً لإنشاء خريطة ذهنية بصرية توضح هذه العلاقات المترابطة. وجاءت الدراسة كمية و كيفية معاً حيث جمعت بين المقابلات الكيفية شبه المنتظمة والاستبيانات الإلكترونية لاستقصاء تصورات المراسلين والتأثيرات على قرارات صنع محتوى وسائل الإعلام في مصر. كما استخدمت نموذج المعادلة الهيكلية للبياناتStructural Equational Model لتوفير فهم دقيق للديناميات المعقدة التي تشكل قرارات المحتوى في صناعة الأخبار. وقد كشفت النتائج الرئيسه من المقابلات والاستبيان أن مراسلي التلفزيون يرون أن أدوارهم مركزية في تحديد قابلية الأخبار للنشر، ويشددون على ضرورة إتباع المهنية والنزاهة. وتتفاوت مستويات الاستقلالية وتتأثر بعوامل تنظيمية، في حين تؤثر السمات الفردية والتحديات المؤسسية على اتخاذ القرارات. وتؤثر الضغوط الخارجية، مثل التأثيرات الاقتصادية والسياسية، على اختيارات المحتوى. وعلى الرغم من التحديات الناشئة، يظل المراسلون ملتزمين بمبادئ الصحافة، بما في ذلك استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي بشكل مسؤول. إن الدراسة تعمل على إثراء فهمنا للعوامل المعقدة التي توجه عمل المراسلين المصريين و تحدد العوامل المؤثره على محتوى وسائل الإعلام والحوار المجتمعي، كما تقدم رؤى هامة للمؤسسات الإعلامية لتعزيز استراتيجيات الاتصال وتوزيع الموارد، وبالتالي تعزيز الشفافية والتميز في الصحافة التلفزيونية المصرية. كما تكشف عن ديناميات الصحافة في مصر وتسلط الضوء على الدور المحوري للمراسلين في تشكيل محتوى وسائل الإعلام، مما يعزز فهمنا لتفاصيل تقديم الأخبار واستراتيجيات تحسين ممارسات وسائل الإعلام وتأثيرها الإيجابي على المجتمع.
