Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation
Lymphoblastic lymphoma (LL) is the second most common subtype of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) in children and adolescents. During the last decades, there was a significant improvement in survival rates of lymphoblastic lymphoma (LL). However, acute and long-term Complications of disease and therapy have become a growing concern. Bone loss is a common and serious consequence of disease Exercise may provide a non-pharmacologic strategy for managing bone loss and a promising complementary treatment with positive effects on Quality of Life QoL in cancer patients. Biochemical markers of bone turnover can provide prognostic information about bone quality and fracture risk. Among the different bone resorption markers, degradation products of type I collagen have demonstrated their superiority. Health-related Quality of Life (HRQOL) is defined as a multidimensional construct of the patients' perceptions of the impact of disease. The Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL{u2122}) is considered to be very promising HRQOL instruments for children and adolescents. Conclusion: exercise training may effectively combat bone loss and deteriorated quality of life in NHL patients without any side effects. Moreover the positive impact of physical exercise on bone remodeling confirm that exercise should be a part of treatment plan for NHL patients
