520 _aBackground: Lumbosacral sciatic pain is a condition associated to spine degeneration which is affecting people daily life and activities. In fact, often pain is not only affecting the lumbar zone, but it is also irradiating down to the lower limb and can influence movement flexibility and general physical function. Sciatica is a frequent clinical illness that may be intensely painful, disabling, and life-altering. Purpose: to determine the therapeutic effect of high intensity laser therapy in addition to the interferential current therapy on sciatica pain. Methodology: A referred diagnosed forty patients complaining from sciatica pain from both genders, with age ranged from (30-50) years old, were randomly assigned to equal two groups: a study group and a control group. Study group received high intensity laser therapy in addition to a selected physical therapy program (interferential current, stretching and strengthening exercises for the lumbar and hip muscles), and control group received only a selected physical therapy program (interferential current, stretching and strengthening exercises for the lumbar and hip muscles), for 12 sessions every other day for 4 weeks, 3 sessions/week, each session for 60 minutes. All patients were evaluated with the Straight Leg Raising (SLR) Test, the Visual analogue scale (VAS), the Modified Oswestry Disability Index (ODQ), and the digital inclinometer. The study was done in out-patient clinics of Faculty of physical therapy, Benha University. Results: the study revealed that there is a significant difference between study and control groups as the p-value was (0.001) which indicated that study group shows improvement in sciatica pain more than control group. Conclusion: The study revealed that four weeks of high intensity laser therapy combined with the selected physical therapy program was a beneficial approach and is a successful treatment for patients suffering from sciatica pain.
