520 _aBackground: Individuals with schizophrenia and metabolic disturbances exhibit impairments on multiple domains of social cognition (SC) and neurocognition which has been important target for intervention, with efforts aiming to improve early functional recovery. Aim: To assess neuro cognitive and social cognitive performance, the quantitative and qualitative difference of neuro cognitive performance and social cognitive performance, and the association between neuro cognitive performance and social cognitive performance and severity of metabolic disturbances among patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Method: 60 patients with schizophrenia including metabolically healthy individuals, individuals with metabolic syndrome and individuals with metabolic disorder , patients were assessed by neuro-cognitive measures: Trail Making Test part A (TMT_A), digit span, digit symbol substitution and pair associate tests of Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), and social cognitive measures: Reading Mind in the Eye Test (RMET) and Emotion Identification Test (Ekman). The patients' groups were assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale for Schizophrenia (PANSS), metabolic parameters were assessed by waist circumference, TG, HDL, blood pressure and blood glucose level. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between schizophrenia patients with metabolic disturbances and schizophrenia patients with healthy metabolism in the scores of basic neuro-cognitive and social cognitive measures. For correlation there was statically significant positive correlation between using high doses and antipsychotics and metabolic syndrome. As regards PANNS_N scores, the study results show significant association between metabolic syndrome and severity of negative psychotic symptoms among patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Conclusion: There is no quantitative or qualitative difference of neuro cognitive performance and social cognitive performance between patients diagnosed with schizophrenia with metabolic syndrome and patients with schizophrenia without metabolic syndrome.
