520 | _aBackground: Low vitamin D levels have been associated with an increase in inflammatory cytokines and a significantly increased risk of pneumonia and viral upper respiratory tract infections. Vitamin D deficiency has been found to occur more frequently in patients with obesity and diabetes mellitus. As well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma and obstructive sleep apnea. Objectives In this study we aimed to assess vitamin D relation with COVID-19 severity. Methods Positive COVID-19 patients were subjected to: clinical examination, Chest Computed Tomography, laboratory investigations. Serum vitamin D level was measured and correlated with the severity and the clinical course of the disease. Results: The study included 72 patients, classified into 4 groups according to the severity of the disease. There was statistically significant difference between the 4 groups regarding the age, lymphocytic count, serum vitamin D, C-reactive protein and lactate dehydrogenase levels. Conclusion: Serum vitamin D level can be correlated with COVID-19 severity and clinical course.
