520		3	_aAim: This study aimed to assess the correlation between Salivary Alkaline Phosphatase (S-ALP) levels and dental caries to confirm its use as a diagnostic biomarker, and to assess the effect of growth on the levels of S-ALP and caries experience and severity. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 30 participants aged from 6-8 years old attending the outpatient diagnostic clinic in Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. The Body Mass Index (BMI) of the participants was measured, followed by saliva collection and evaluation of caries experience and severity. The S-ALP levels were measured using spectrophotometry. Results: The results showed a positive correlation between S-ALP levels and dental caries experience and severity in primary and mixed dentition. There was a positive correlation between growth and S-ALP. There was a negative correlation between growth and dental caries in primary dentition, and a positive correlation between growth and dental caries in mixed dentition. Conclusion: High levels of S-ALP can be associated with dental caries in both primary and mixed dentition and with obesity, high BMI can be associated with dental caries in mixed dentition and with increased caries severity, while Low BMI can be associated with dental caries in primary dentition
520		3	_aإن الهدف الرئيسي من هذه الدراسة هو تقييم العلاقة بين مستويات الفوسفاتیز القلوي اللعابي وتسوس الأسنان لدى مجموعة من الأطفال المصريين لتحديد استخدامه كمؤشر حيوي تشخيصي. كما تهدف أيضًا إلى تحديد تأثير معدلات النمو المختلفة للأطفال على مستويات الفوسفاتیز القلوي اللعابي وعلى تسوس الأسنان وشدته. تم قياس القياسات البشرية للمشاركين باستخدام شريط قياس للطول ومقياس رقمي للوزن، ثم تم حساب مؤشر كتلة الجسم عن طريق قسمة الوزن بالكيلو جرام على مربع الارتفاع بالأمتار ومقارنته بمخططات النمو الخاصة بمركز السيطرة على الأمراض. تم جمع اللعاب باستخدام طريقة البصق وتم نقل العينات إلى المختبر لتحديد مستويات الفوسفاتیز القلوي اللعابي باستخدام القياس الطيفي. تم تقييم تجربة تسوس الأسنان للمشاركين باستخدام مؤشر الأسنان المسوسة والمفقودة والممتلئة، في حين تم تقييم شدة تسوس الأسنان باستخدام مؤشر النظام الدولي لكشف وتقييم التسوس. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة وجود علاقة إيجابية بين مستويات الفوسفاتیز القلوي اللعابي وتسوس الأسنان في كل من الأسنان اللبنية والمختلطة. كان هناك ارتباط إيجابي بين النمو و الفوسفاتیز القلوي اللعابي ، وارتباط سلبي بين النمو وتسوس الأسنان في الأسنان اللبنية، في حين كان هناك ارتباط إيجابي بين النمو وتسوس الأسنان في الأسنان المختلطة. وكانت هناك أيضًا علاقة إيجابية ضعيفة جدًا بين النمو وشدة التسوس في كل من الأسنان اللبنية والمختلطة. من المهم جدًا الكشف المبكر عن تسوس الأسنان والسمنة من خلال تحديد عوامل الخطر المحتملة، حيث إنها من مشكلات الصحة العامة الرئيسية التي تؤثر على الأطفال في مصر. سيساعد ذلك في الوقاية والعلاج الفوري لكلا المرضين وتحسين نوعية حياة الأطفال.
