520 3 _aEgypt has accumulated a significant volume of oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) data over its long history of E&P activities dating back to the late 1880s. This wealth of data represents a crucial national asset. However, the challenge lies in effectively managing and utilizing this data to promote investment in the oil and gas sector and streamline companies' access without physical interaction with the data. This work assesses Egypt's approach to digitalizing its E&P data by establishing the National Data Repository (NDR) and Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) portal. The primary objective is to bolster investment in the oil and gas industry by consolidating the extensive data repository into a single platform. The METHODOLOGY involves analyzing the NDR and EUG portal implementation to achieve the aforementioned objectives. This includes examining the strategic role of the NDR in promoting license rounds and attracting international investment. The analysis encompasses a review of the available subsurface and bid round data, including a comprehensive post-stack merge of existing legacy seismic surveys in the Mediterranean basin. The results indicate that the establishment of the NDR and EUG portal has significantly contributed to enhancing the management and accessibility of Egypt's E&P data. The NDR serves as a strategic tool in promoting license rounds and attracting international investment, while the EUG portal facilitates swift access to subsurface and bid round data, expediting the decision-making process for companies. The availability of rich subsurface datasets, including merged legacy seismic surveys, further enhances the platform's utility in promoting investment and maximizing hydrocarbon recovery in Egypt's exploration blocks. Additionally, the Middle East, including Egypt, hosts significant carbonate reservoirs, which are crucial for global oil reserves. Egypt's Zohr field, the largest conventional gas field in the country, exemplifies these reservoirs. This study presents successful tertiary carbonate reservoirs in the Egyptian Western Desert and Gulf of Suez provinces. These reservoirs, characterized by heterogeneous porosity and permeability due to varying tectonostratigraphic environments and diagenetic alterations, were analyzed structurally using geophysical and geological data. Findings from areas such as JD, Abu Sennan, and North Amer in the Western Desert, as well as offshore Gulf of Suez, indicated that tectonostratigraphic history significantly influenced carbonate reservoir quality, with major fault trends forming secondary fracture porosity and facilitating hydrothermal solutions. These factors contribute to the identification of promising carbonate reservoirs with high fractured density. Furthermore, the Western Desert of Egypt is recognized for its significant potential in oil and gas reserves, both conventional and unconventional. Recent findings suggest that unconventional reservoirs, particularly the Abu RoashF (AR/F) reservoir, hold considerable promise. A multidisciplinary approach was employed to assess this potential, integrating borehole images with core data and thin sections to analyze the lithofacies of the reservoir. The study identified wells with optimal reservoir quality, including fractured dolomite or vuggy dolomite, despite some wells displaying low porosity. Seismic attribute maps indicated a high density of fractures, predominantly oriented NW-SE, associated with the Formation zones. This integrated approach underscores the importance of combining borehole images with seismic attributes to effectively evaluate carbonate Formations, highlighting the critical role in unlocking the full potential of hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Western Desert.
